XLT is coming to Springfield, OR!

NEW to Saint Alice! (at least in Springfield, OR)

The Vicariate Youth Council for Lane County is working together to offer a creative prayer experience for young people called XLT!

What is XLT? XLT is a form of Eucharistic Adoration that involves a time of praise and worship music, followed by a young person who will share their faith and then ending with a time of adoration in the presence of the Eucharist. XLT is a time for you to spend a little quiet time growing closer to Christ with other young people your age.

What is Eucharistic Adoration? Eucharistic Adoration is the adoration of Jesus Christ present in the Holy Eucharist. During adoration the Eucharist is displayed in a special holder called a monstrance, and people come to pray and worship Jesus continually throughout the time offered.

Great News: Reverend Roy L. Antunez, S.J. will be presiding over the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. We will have some pre-recorded and some live music to praise and worship for over an hour’s worth of Adoration. There will definitely be some opportunities to sing along to songs that you will recognize and some other music that you may want to just listen and contemplate.

Who is XLT for: All 6th-12th grade students from any parish who want to attend, along with their parents and anyone interested in being present for adoration of the Holy Eucharist.

When will XLT Happen? XLT will take place on February 20th at 6pm – 7:30pm in the main sanctuary of the church. Snacks and refreshments will be provided in the Parish Center immediately following the Benediction. If you are planning on being picked up after all of the festivities, we will be sharing in fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ until at least 8pm.

COME JOIN US! You are Never Alone. God loves you and cares about you and surrounds you with a community that will support you. Come and experience his love in the real presence of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist, exposed to your eyes and waiting for your heart.

The following is taken from the Youth Ministry blog at Saint Mary’s

Sunday is special this week, with no Life Night.  Instead we’ll be facilitating the Vicariate XLT here at Saint Mary’s at 7:15pm, with pizza after 5:30 mass.  It’s an event not just for the youth, but for any and all to come join us in Adoration.  Deacon Matt Libra will be giving a keynote presentation on the Eucharist, and there will be time for Praise and worship throughout, with benediction ending at 8:30pm.  Please come join us to be a part of this great time of prayer with our young people.  What a great chance we have to come together as a community!

From your Coordinator of Youth Ministry:

Plan on having your parents bring you to Saint Mary’s at 5:30pm for Mass and they can join you for Mass and adoration.  We will be planning on joining the Saint Mary’s crew for all the festivities, and for those that have never experienced adoration, be ready to have Jesus truly present with you as we join in worshipping him with our brothers and sisters from Saint Mary’s.

Of course, since there is school the next day, you are welcome to leave when you should to make sure you get your sleep for school.  The plan is for Benediction ending at 8:30pm, so if your parents don’t stay with you, they can plan on meeting you at that time and you can decide together if it would be a good time for you to leave to make sure you get enough sleep or if you would like to stay after the Benediction.

Please feel free to call me with any questions or see me before or after Mass on Saturday night or Sunday morning.  I plan on getting to Saint Mary’s by 5pm and I will be wearing my green “I love my Jesus” shirt, so you should be able to find me pretty easily there too.

God bless you all!
